In response to Republicans’ continuous efforts to dismantle and undermine Social Security, CREDO has launched a new campaign to build momentum for expanding and strengthening the program.

The petition can be found here:

CREDO also released the following statement:

“Today’s hearing is simply the latest salvo in Republicans’ decades-long attempt to gut our Social Security system,” said Josh Nelson, a Campaign Manager with CREDO Action. “Republicans need to stop playing games with Americans’ retirement security and instead work to expand and strengthen Social Security.”

Already this year, more than 200,000 CREDO activists have signed a petition telling Republicans not to cut Social Security benefits under any circumstances. More than 160,000 CREDO activists have also condemned Senator Rand Paul’s outrageous attack on Social Security and Americans living with disabilities, in which he falsely claimed that a majority of Social Security Disability Insurance beneficiaries are “gaming the system.”

CREDO Action, part of CREDO Mobile, is a social change network of 3.5 million activists, sending millions of petition signatures and tens of thousands of phone calls to decision-makers each year. CREDO Action members also participate in meetings, protests and other direct action for progressive change.
