With the fight in Congress over Trade Promotion Authority and the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) heating up, CREDO is implementing a full court press in opposition to the pending trade agreement.
The Trans-Pacific Partnership is a massive giveaway to multi-national corporations at the expense of consumers, workers, the environment, and the soundness of our financial system,” said Murshed Zaheed, CREDO’s Deputy Political Director, adding, “now is the time for Democratic leadership in Congress to publicly come out against Fast Track and help stop the TPP.”
Highlights of CREDO members’ activism on the Trans-Pacific Partnership so far in 2015 include:
100,000 ACTIVISTS PRESSURE PRESIDENT OBAMA TO RELEASE THE FULL TEXT OF THE TPP: Following a request from Senator Bernie Sanders, in the past few weeks, more than 100,000 CREDO activists have signed a petition calling on the Obama administration to release the full text of the Trans-Pacific Partnership and any other pending trade agreements.
1,200+ PHONE CALLS TO DEMOCRATIC CONGRESSIONAL LEADERSHIP: Already this year, 1,270 CREDO activists have made calls in opposition to Fast Track authority and the Trans-Pacific Partnership to Democratic congressional leadership, in addition to Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden.
CREDO CUSTOMERS SEND 1,000+ LETTERS TO HOUSE MINORITY WHIP STENY HOYER: More than 1,000 CREDO activists responded to a call to action in their phone bills in January by sending letters to House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer urging him to oppose Fast Track for the TPP. Here’s the call to action CREDO customers received in their phone bills:
NEARLY ONE MILLION PETITION SIGNATURES AGAINST THE TPP IN 2013 AND 2014: In 2013 and 2014, CREDO generated 913,572 petition signatures to Congress and the Obama administration in opposition to Trade Promotion Authority and the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

CREDO Action members also participate in meetings, protests and other direct action for progressive change.
