CREDO: Sen. Menendez’s opposition to #IranDeal cements his reputation as a warmonger

CREDO Action released the following statement in response to Senator Menendez’s opposition to the Iran nuclear deal:

“Senator Menendez has done more in the last two years than any other Democrat to beat the drums for war with Iran,” said Zack Malitz, campaign manager at CREDO Action. “Senator Menendez clearly wants the United States to go to war with Iran.”

“Menendez’s support for war over diplomacy isn’t surprising, but that doesn’t make it any less dangerous or irresponsible,” Malitz continued. “Is Senator Menendez so desperate to draw attention away from his indictment on corruption charges that he’s willing to help Republicans start another war of choice in the Middle East?”

Earlier this year, more than 93,000 CREDO activists signed a petition urging Senator Menendez to stop warmongering on Iran. The petition reads as follows:

“Your campaign to impose additional sanctions on Iran is nothing short of irresponsible warmongering. Immediately drop your dangerous Iran sanctions bill, which will kill diplomacy and risk another unnecessary war of choice in the Middle East, and support President Obama’s diplomacy.”
