WINNING TOGETHER We are millions of people taking action for progressive change

A nuclear plant on an earthquake fault by the ocean was never a good idea. Then, in January 2012, it was discovered that two new $750 million nuclear power generators at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station were leaking radioactive steam. The plant’s operator, Southern California Edison, was insistent in its desire to reopen the dangerous generators at partial power to test their capacity, which could have resulted in further contaminated-steam leaks—or worse. But our activism, alongside the passionate efforts of other Southern California organizers, pushed Edison to do the right thing for the safety and economic security of customers and residents and close the plant permanently.
