Activists protest at Rep. Nadler’s Manhattan Office Demanding Trump’s Impeachment
NEW YORK – A group of activists with signs and shirts reading “Congress: Do Your Job” and “#TimeToImpeach” staged a protest at Rep. Jerrold Nadler’s Manhattan office Tuesday urging the Congressman to throw his support behind impeaching Donald Trump.

At the protest, progressive leaders, including Alexandra Flores-Quilty of By the People and Thaís Marques of CREDO Action, detailed Trump’s crimes and the need for Rep. Nadler and other House Democratic leaders to join the fight to remove Donald Trump from office.
“Trump has already committed numerous, well-documented, impeachable offenses. We don’t need more evidence,” said By the People spokesperson Alexandra Flores-Quilty. “But Rep. Nadler is concerned that impeachment is too divisive, and that the public doesn’t yet agree. But impeachment isn’t divisive; Trump is. He inspires and enables increasing hate and violence against our fellow human beings, which contributed to New Zealand’s recent Islamophobic terrorist attack. We the people are joining together in a growing movement to impeach Trump.
Sixty percent of Americans, regardless of party, want to see Trump held accountable. That’s why it’s time for Congress to follow the will of the American people, starting with cosponsoring Rep. Tlaib’s upcoming House resolution, which would authorize the House Judiciary Committee — to begin official impeachment investigations.”
“I don’t have time to wait for Jerry Nadler to decide that Trump should be impeached,” said CREDO Action Campaign Manager Thaís Marques. “We’re here to tell him that the majority of Americans believe that Trump is unfit to be president. We’re here to tell Jerry Nadler that we are worth it and we can’t wait any longer,” Marques added. “If Jerry Nadler won’t follow the will of the American people we will hold him accountable. Trump tear-gassed migrant refugees at the border when they tried to seek asylum. Every day people who call this land home are detained and deported. We need Jerry Nadler to finally take moral leadership and open an impeachment investigation.”
After speaking to the crowd, activists delivered a copy of By the People’s pledge to Impeach Trump to the Congressman and urged him to sign the pledge. The pledge reads:
I pledge to defend the Constitution and the American people by voting to impeach President Donald J. Trump. As a concrete first step, I pledge to co-sponsor and vote for a resolution to authorize the House Judiciary Committee to investigate fully and completely whether sufficient grounds exist for the House of Representatives to exercise its constitutional power to impeach President Trump.
Today’s protest is part of a nationwide week of action in support of impeachment, with events taking place at dozens of Congressional offices nationwide. The day of action follows a March 6 protest in Speaker Pelosi’s Washington, D.C. office in which nine activists demanding Trump’s impeachment were arrested.
By the People is a grassroots movement to impeach the Trump administration and make an America that finally works for all of us who call it home. Through nonviolent action, we are building a movement across the country to stop this dangerous administration. No matter your background, who you voted for, your age, your gender, your sexual orientation, your religion, or your race, if you are a recent immigrant or if your family has been here for generations, if you live in the biggest city or the smallest town — we all have a stake in each other’s future. We invite you to join us in this fight.
