ICYMI — CREDO released the statement below after the Senate confirmed Steven Menashi to the 2nd Circuit of Appeals, despite his many disqualifying writings demeaning people of color, women, and those in poverty. More than 100,000 CREDO Action members signed a petition opposing Menashi’s appointment.
“Donald Trump is successfully stacking our federal courts with young, hyper-conservative, racist judges, and Steven Menashi checks every one of those boxes,” said CREDO Action co-director Heidi Hess. “We are a diverse, multi-racial country whose laws are already stacked against Black and Brown people. It’s abhorrent that the Senate just gave a lifetime appointment to a white nationalist like Menashi who will further entrench those inequities..”
CREDO Action, part of CREDO Mobile, is a social change network of millions of activists, sending tens of millions of petition signatures and hundreds of thousands of phone calls to decision-makers each year. CREDO Action members also participate in meetings, protests and other direct action for progressive change.
