FYI — Wanted to make sure you had our reaction to Rep. Jerry Nadler calling the House Judiciary Committee’s investigations into Trump “formal impeachment proceedings.” CREDO has been on the front lines of the impeachment fight — take a look below for more details on our activism.
“Rep. Jerry Nadler finally calling his work ‘formal impeachment proceedings’ is a victory for the grassroots, who have been urging him to take that step,” said CREDO Action campaign manager Thaís Marques. “Now it’s up to Rep. Nadler to ensure that the House Judiciary Committee’s investigation goes beyond the scope of the Mueller investigation. When Rep. Nadler says ‘all evidence,’ that needs to include looking into all of Donald Trump’s high crimes and misdemeanors, including abuse of emergency powers, violations of the emoluments clause and his racist executives orders. We urge Rep. Nadler to continue his efforts and vote articles of impeachment out of committee by October 1st.
“The rest of leadership needs to catch up with Rep. Nadler and over half of the Democratic caucus and publicly support a full impeachment inquiry with a broad scope,” she continued. “With every day that passes, Trump abuses the presidency to enrich himself, obstruct justice and enact hateful policies that target millions of Americans — we can’t wait any longer.”
CREDO has been calling for Trump’s impeachment for nearly a year. In recent months, we have ramped up our activism with thousands of phone calls to members of Congress and protests in New York, San Francisco, and Washington. In May, we joined a coalition of progressive organizations to deliver more than 10 million petition signatures to Congress in support of impeachment. In June, we brought together dozens of organizations to draft and send a letter calling out Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s “dangerous inaction” on impeachment.
CREDO Action, part of CREDO Mobile, is a social change network of millions of activists, sending tens of millions of petition signatures and hundreds of thousands of phone calls to decision-makers each year. CREDO Action members also participate in meetings, protests and other direct action for progressive change.
