ICYMI: As the Ukraine whistleblower story about Trump seeking to swing the 2020 election blows up, CREDO Action co-director Heidi Hess called out Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s hypocrisy on stonewalling tactics in regards to impeachment in the following statement:
“It’s awfully bold of Speaker Pelosi to call out stonewalling tactics when she herself has stonewalled impeachment efforts for the past eight months,” said CREDO Action co-director Heidi Hess. “Donald Trump has committed numerous impeachable offenses and threatens our communities, our democracy and our planet on a daily basis. Pelosi must stop playing craven political games and lead now. It’s past time for her to throw her full support behind moving forward with impeachment proceedings. Doing anything less further cements her legacy as the Speaker of the House who refused to do her constitutional duty and was complicit in Trump’s crimes and his bigotry.”
CREDO has been calling for Trump’s impeachment for more than a year. In recent months, we have ramped up our activism with protests in New York, San Francisco, and Washington, including disrupting an award ceremony honoring Speaker Nancy Pelosi in August. In May, we joined a coalition of progressive organizations to deliver more than 10 million petition signatures to Congress in support of impeachment. In June, we brought together dozens of organizations to draft and send a letter calling out Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s “dangerous inaction” on impeachment.
CREDO Action, part of CREDO Mobile, is a social change network of millions of activists, sending tens of millions of petition signatures and hundreds of thousands of phone calls to decision-makers each year. CREDO Action members also participate in meetings, protests and other direct action for progressive change.
