FYI — CREDO Action co-director Heidi Hess put out the statement below after news broke that Walmart will end sales of handgun ammunition and no longer allow open carry of guns in their stores:
“Walmart is trying to protect themselves from public and employee backlash by ending sales of ammunition and ending open carry. Any step that doesn’t include ending gun sales full stop isn’t enough to show a true commitment to ending gun violence and mass shootings,” said CREDO Action co-director Heidi Hess. “We call on Walmart to send a message to other corporations, stand with their employees and end all gun sales in their stores.”
Over 65,000 CREDO members signed on to a petition in the wake of the shooting in an El Paso Walmart targeting black and brown immigrants calling on the corporation to end gun sales in all of its stores.
CREDO Action, part of CREDO Mobile, is a social change network of millions of activists, sending tens of millions of petition signatures and hundreds of thousands of phone calls to decision-makers each year.
