What’s next after Franken’s resignation
There is no room in the progressive movement or our society for sexual harassment or assault. It was past time for Sen. Al Franken to resign. Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton should immediately appoint a progressive woman to replace Franken in the U.S. Senate.
As important as they are, neither Franken’s resignation nor a progressive choice for his replacement will be enough to root out sexual harassment and assault in the federal government. That’s why more than 140,000 CREDO members have called on congressional leaders from both parties to create an independent, bipartisan commission to investigate the systemic problems that perpetuate gender discrimination, sexual harassment and sexual assault in the government and investigate allegations against federal elected officials, starting with Donald Trump.
