A two-and-a-half year fracking moratorium just became law in Maryland. After former Governor Martin O’Malley lifted the state’s moratorium on his way out of office, fracking activists across the state —including over 3,500 CREDO members—sprung into action to urge the General Assembly to halt fracking. And we won! This victory is part of a national grassroots uprising against fracking and fossil fuel extraction at the community level, and it shows once again that we can take on the fossil fuel industry and win. But the fight in Maryland, and in other communities, is not yet over. We’ll continue fighting for a permanent ban on fracking in Maryland as part of our larger, organized resistance against fracking and fossil fuel extraction.
